There are three reasons why a sewer line fails:

  1. Roots have penetrated the pipe, attracted to the water that runs through it, and they will keep on growing, catching toilet paper and other debris, creating continual stoppages.
  2. The ground shifts from both seasonal changes, as well as the becoming moist, then drying out, which causes expansion and contraction, resulting in a broken or offset pipe. This too will create continual stoppages.
  3. A "belly" in the line may have formed over time; this is the result of the pipe not being properly supported from underneath. Over time, if the pipe is not properly supported with dirt, soil, or sand, its weight will eventually pull it down, creating a dip, or a "belly" in the line. Once this happens, you will experience constant stoppages, because the belly will quickly turn into a dam as it catches toilet paper and debris, which lose their velocity and remain stuck in the "belly" of the line.

In any of these instances, you will continue to have stoppages until you repair the damaged part of the pipe. For sewer installation or repair, call (214) -213-6697.
